How might a history-themed park help people learn and/or appreciate history?

In my opinion a history-themed park help people learn and appreciate history because of its attractions. Napoleon Bonaparte's theme park would be very well appreciated because he has had a vast amount history in the French Revolution and an interesting role. For example, in Lay Puy de Fou located in Vendee(Western France) there are about 1.5 million visitors a year. People have been attracted by Bonaparte's life, battle scenes, Pyramids, the Gates of Moscow and much more. People will appreciate history when a theme park has two important aspects. One of them is to keep the theme park with full excitement. Excitement will come in when builders have kept monuments for people to look at. This will persuade/compel the visitors to learn about Napoleon Bonaparte. The second way to attract visitors to Napoleon Bonaparte's theme park is to share information. There can be tour guides who show people about who Bonaparte was. This is how people will be able to appreciate history.

In comparison to Napoleon Bonaparte, if the two aspects I mentioned were in his museum people will enjoy history a lot because they will learn about him and how he was an important person in this world.

Courage In Many Ways

Courage is an important quality for someone to have and show. Some people are born with courage and aren't bashful. Other people are shy and timid, and need to develop courage. According to me, a person needs to have courage in order to show what they want. One must speak up for themselves.  People who are intelligent but shy, may overcome less opportunities in life because they lack bravery. Winston Churchill said that, "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." Therefore, the people who are shy, but listen to people who speak are in a way courageous. In spite,  showing different types of courage will help a person move forward and people will respect you. There are many types of courage: moral, intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual, and social.  So, if you were genuinely shy and timid, then that person needs to develop courage in order to communicate or do what you think is right. If you already feel that you are confident about yourself, then you don't have to develop it.

The picture shown above is Florence Nightingale who was a nurse during the Crimean War. She has inspired me by showing moral, physical, and intellectual courage because she took care of soldiers who were injured. Also, she made sanitation regulations and kept each soldier out of their worries. She is an amazing person!

A Joyful Experience

On Friday some of the eighth graders including me went on a field trip to Fr. Rays Home for the Blind. We went on a bus and we reached the orphanage. The orphanage was filled with  blind children and some of them were physically challenged too. I have never been to an orphanage with blind children, and therefore I had a good time being with them. In their hall we played a name game, where we had to memorize each others names. We also watched a video clip that explained about the center and how it is developing.

In the blind school, there were children from different age groups with many talents. Some of the blind children could read, write and play the Thai Xylophone extremely well, deprive the fact that they are blind. Our grade and the children their played other games, too. Later, we were supposed to hold a blind child's hand and walk them over to the Field. At first I was a little frightened, but I held their hand. I remembered the golden rule, "Treat the way you want to be treated." There is no use discriminating people, it is better to become friends and caring citizens. So, I walked the blind child to the court yard and I felt happy that I did so. Later we played soccer with them. No doubt, they were better than some of the eighth grader when they had a blindfold on their eyes. It was fun watching them play. Later, we took a group photo and finally left.

I was very happy to know that we are going to an orphanage because I have been to one before in Bangkok. The difference between the two orphanages is that, this one was for handicapped children unlike the one I had been to before. When I went to this orphanage, I evinced kindness, respect, and happiness towards the children. I spoke with them in Thai (the best I could). According to the six Eslers I demonstrated the trait of a caring citizen. In conclusion, I enjoyed spending time with the children at the orphanage.

Patriots or Terrorists? By Manasi.

The colonists had smuggled many goods and bought the Dutch goods instead of the British goods. They boycotted the British goods because they had taxes on them and very very costly. Since, the colonists are angry and there is a strong organization pat rioting it's acceptable. I wont call this terrorism because the colonists are doing any violence to the Mother country. At first I thought, that it would be terrorizing. It would be but then it would be illegal for the British to impose taxes for the colonists who can't afford it. I understand that it would hard for the British government to take care of the colonies, but the colonists are also trying their very best.

According to John Locke, an Englishman who created the natural rights. The natural rights were everyone should have their right to life, liberty and property. The colonists could react upon the Tea Act very well when the British underestimated them. The colonists protested and had even formed organizations. The government mustn't fight with the colonists. Instead. they should get their feedback for help.

At the same time, a terrorist is a person who uses violence and threats to intimidate a coerce, especially for political purposes. It is also a method of resisting a government. I believe that the colonists who smuggled and boycotted the British goods were not exactly terrorists because they gave no threat and harm. They did activities that made the British government understand what they want. A terrorist attack would be the 9 11 when the attackers (Al Qaeda) bombed the World Trade Center(NY). The hijacker intentionally crashed the two planes. This is a strong evidence that this was a terrorist attack. The colonists did not do any act like this.

In conclusion, the colonists were patriots and not terrorists.

Quad Blog: Dear Oversea Friends

Dear Oversea Pen Pals,

I am Manasi from Ms. Torie's eighth grade and you are welcome to read some of my posts. In Ms. Tories class we are learning about the Tudors and the Stuarts. We have learned about the Elizabethan Age and how England got wealthy and flourished its renaissance. During this period of time there were many merchants and trade restarted in England. Queen Elizabeth had encouraged writers like William Shakespeare and his story, Romeo and Juliet got very popular. English and Latin were common languages and books were written in the vernacular language instead of Latin. During her time, Queen Elizabeth ran a protestant country and in England people had rights to oblige some laws unlike Scotland.  Also, we learned about the Spanish Armada and their attacks on England when Elizabeth reigned. (How they failed, too). I appreciate history since it teaches us a lesson.

Update News: In Thailand there was a recent devastating flood that affected over 300 people lives. About 400 people are killed and a lot of people had to shift to different homes. Most of my friends moved to Bangkok city where I live.  I didn't get affected much since I live in the city, although I know many other people who have.

Sincerely,

Manasi.

Thailand floods

During a time like a chaotic flood, people must help each other. I am also glad to hear that Cotto designed an antibacterial laboratory for the Thai people. I think that this is so far the most convenient and innovative creation because it is simple to use. Every person should have a right to live, by John Locke. A person should have his/her basic necessities like adequate clean water. The interesting part of this invention is that no matter how deep the laboratory goes into the contaminated water, it will be protected.
The laboratory is placed on the oil drums and they have many of the laboratories placed. This is what keeps the laboratories floating. I like this idea since it will help many people in the flood use the bathroom and it is everyone's need.

THE BLUEE FLOOD!!!

The flood alert is serious in Thailand. The entire Nonthatburi and Pathum Thani is flooded and there are many districts that are at high risk including Min Buri. Luckily, my family lives in the main city at Bangkok, in Sukhumvit soi 23. About two weeks ago, my uncles home at Pathum Thani got washed away and his family came to live with us. They came to live with us for about a week and then they left to India. Due to this tragedy all over Thailand, my family donated money and I helped pack the basic food(mushroom, carton milk, bagels of rice, dry fruits, plastic bags, tissue, mama noodles) and water for the villagers in Lam Lukka.  Later, I also helped load the military truck so they can send the supply to all these people. Many people are feeling unsafe and in the market many of the basic foods are getting finished easily. There are many miserable stories about the flood victims. In the beginning my family stored a lot of the food and about nine liters of water. Finally, my family decided to go to India to stay safe and celebrate Diwali. After I came back to Bangkok, I helped pack for the flood victims who live in the villages. There were over 56 people to help pack for 500 people. I hope that my efforts have helped.
