Quad Blog: Dear Oversea Friends

Dear Oversea Pen Pals,

I am Manasi from Ms. Torie's eighth grade and you are welcome to read some of my posts. In Ms. Tories class we are learning about the Tudors and the Stuarts. We have learned about the Elizabethan Age and how England got wealthy and flourished its renaissance. During this period of time there were many merchants and trade restarted in England. Queen Elizabeth had encouraged writers like William Shakespeare and his story, Romeo and Juliet got very popular. English and Latin were common languages and books were written in the vernacular language instead of Latin. During her time, Queen Elizabeth ran a protestant country and in England people had rights to oblige some laws unlike Scotland.  Also, we learned about the Spanish Armada and their attacks on England when Elizabeth reigned. (How they failed, too). I appreciate history since it teaches us a lesson.

Update News: In Thailand there was a recent devastating flood that affected over 300 people lives. About 400 people are killed and a lot of people had to shift to different homes. Most of my friends moved to Bangkok city where I live.  I didn't get affected much since I live in the city, although I know many other people who have.

Sincerely,

Manasi.
